2008 Educator of the Year
The Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Mrs. Susan Samsa, an educator at Dover City Schools, East Elementary, was selected as the 2008 Educator of the Year.
The Educator of the Year is selected from a pool of nearly 1,000 educators in Tuscarawas County. The educators are nominated for their commitment to the teaching profession, continuous learning, community involvement, and a teaching philosophy that encompasses commitment to the student. Chamber President Jill McCartney comments “We are pleased to help in identifying our finest teachers in Tuscarawas County and present them with this award so that they can be recognized by the business leaders in the community.”
Mr. Jud Compton, Principal at Dover East Elementary nominated Mrs. Samsa for this honor. Mr. Compton stated, “Mrs. Samsa defines the ultimate in an excellent educator. She attends many of activities her students are involved in outside of the classroom. She has mentored several entry teachers of the Dover City School District. The mold will be extinct once Mrs. Samsa retires.”
The Educator of the Year Program is co-sponsored by the Times-Reporter. The Educator of the Year will be officially honored at the Tuscarawas County Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet on January 27, 2009 at McDonald Marlite Conference Center.
